Amazon.Com rips off its authors?
by david reynaIt has come to our attention that Amazon.Com may be joyfully
creating a fraudulent advertising program that not only infringes on the right of the many
Authors who post their works on the giant retailers web site, but that re-directs
potential clients who are looking to purchase a particular authors works to often
mysterious book resellers who claim to have a used copy of the book the browser is looking
for, even if they do not!
When an aspiring author signs up with Amazon.Com, they agree to ship their books to
Amazon.Com at a 50% gross price discount rate. Not only does the author pay the shipping,
but they allow Amazon.Com to receive their books on CONSIGNMENT.
This writer would say that is a fair deal. Amazon.Com pays nothing to the author
upfront, and the author pays nothing for the use of Amazon.Com's program. Yet what has
occurred at Amazon.Com is that they have seemed to have allowed greed and fraud to become
enjoined through a program that is costing both authors and publishers sales.
Amazon.Com have implemented a program where other "resellers" may sell used
copies of the same book that the author has placed with Amazon.Com. In fact, these
"used copies" of the authors book is actually advertise on the same page as the
many authors and publishers who have their books advertised.
Let us say that you have written a book. Spent, in many cases, years writing and
developing it. You then pay to produce the book. And then you sign up with Amazon.Com and
go through the hassle of listing the book and adding all required information. You then
ship the amount that Amazon.Com requests at YOUR expense. And then offer 50% of the total
price to Amazon.Com. And then you set up links on web pages that send clients to buy your
book.
Well, watch out, for Amazon.Com has gone another step to deny you your due.
You see, Amazon's greed has taken over any commonsense or fair-play towards you, the
author. In order for Amazon.Com to keep its stock price up and enjoy a brisk business,
they have added many programs that offer a wide variety of choices to the browser. One of
these programs involves used book sellers who can place a MAJOR link and FALSE, ENTICING
information on YOUR PAGE, NEXT TO YOUR OFFER! And, this False and Enticing information
explains how the browser that has come to look at your book can buy your book at a
tremendous discount. You see, it is a used copy!
So, you say, what is the problem?
Well, this writer and Fraud' Expose - EZnewsTV.com has discovered that, in most
cases, these "resellers" of used books, specifically YOUR used book, do not have
the book in the first place. AND, in fact, the very promotion as to the integrity of this
"used book sellers'' is actually a self-entered-hype that encourages the BUYER, who
has come to look at YOUR BOOK to enter their credit card and BUY this used copy.
Do they get the copy? NO! The browsers is told the copy is sold and offered a list of
OTHER books for sale!
We, EZnewsTV, view Amazon.Com as violating a specific laws against False Advertising.
Laws, may we say, that were implemented exactly for situations like this!
EZnewsTV believes Amazon.Com is commiting outright false and misleading advertising.
When a reporter for EZnewsTV brought these facts to the attention of EznewsTV, we asked
him to write Amazon.Com once more and send us a copy of the email, and the responce from
Amazon.Com. What we discovered was that Amazon.Com may be operating a "used book
racket"...
Read what occurred;
As this author of House Of Cards publishes his own book, and keeps all records of its
sales, he was aware that there were few used copies offered for sale. In fact, he went and
attempted to BUY the said copy FOUR times over 5 months and was told it was sold and that
he could buy a different book. He wrote Amazon three times and went to day, Oct 4, 2001,
to see if the links and information were removed, they were not:

we have just discovered you are sending folks to a person CLAIMING to have a used
copy of MY BOOK!
This person DOES NOT have ANY copies of House Of Cards.. in fact, we see below that
you are not simply sending our clients we send to buy MY BOOK to a person who lists no
phone number, web page and uses an anonymous e mail address, but this person DOES NOT have
a used copy of House Of Cards, instead, he is running a used book "program"
and informing customers the book is gone and that he has other titles!!!
We are asking you to REMOVE this from our book feature..
We expect an answer!
